Gus Hiddink is the successor of Felipe Scolari as Chelsea coach

gus hiddink

After the sacking of former Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari during the 2008-09 English Premier League season, Chelsea confirmed that Hiddink would become Scolari's replacement until the end of the Premier League season on 11 February 2009, whilst continuing his duties with Russia. Hiddink was born in Varsseveld and started his career as a player in the youth side of amateur club SC Varssevel. He turned professional after signing on for Dutch club De Graafschap in 1967. He spent most of his playing career there and remains fan of the club. He joined PSV Eindhoven in 1970, but after failing to win a permanent position in the team, he rejoined De Graafschap after just one year and remained there until 1976. He also had stints in the North American Soccer League in the United States with Washington Diplomats from July to December 1976, and San Jose Earthquakes for all of 1977, before returning home to sign for NEC. In 1981, he rejoined De Graafschap and retired a year later. He generally played as a midfielder during his playing days.
Having honed his coaching skills with De Graafschap as an assistant manager, he took over the managerial role at PSV Eindhoven in 1987 (after also holding the assistant manager position there from 1983 to March 1987). It was at PSV where he led the team to its first ever European Cup triumph in 1988 affirming the Eindhoven club's ranking as one of the three giants of Dutch football, alongside rivals Ajax and Feyenoord. He also won three Eredivisie titles with the club in between 1987 and 1990.

He had a brief 3 month interim spell as caretaker of Nottingham Forest. He also had a coaching stint at Turkish club Fenerbahçe in 1990 but was dismissed after one year before joining Spanish giants Valencia. His outspoken nature was demonstrated when during a league game at Valencia's Estadio Mestalla, he ordered a racist banner to be removed from one of the stands. His open attacking brand of football appealed to the Valencia team as well as to the rest of the Spanish Primera League.

Chelsea are currently seven points behind Barclays Premier League pacesetters Manchester United, having played a game more.

Chelsea and its Owner; We can't be the best all the time.

Scolari the great coach

Giving sack to a coach recently has happened many times. Paul ince Of blackburn rovers and Felipe Scolari are the latest example. they were sacked without given enough time to prove themselves, what change do you expect in such tough competition like the premiere league in sixteen game or so. They need more time to adjust themselves with the players, the club itself. I hope another successful career for Mr. Scolari in the near future

Chelsea after Scolari sacked

Scolari sacked by chelsea

After the chelsea's coach Scolari sacked there has been many names predicted to be Scolari successor. The news spread like bees as the club's website revealed the brave and dramatic move taken. it is said that such dramatic move made to maintain a challenge for the trophies they are still competing for.

As we all know, Scolari, world cup winner, had only been in the job since June 2008, when he became Chelsea's third boss in a year. Scolari signed a lucrative three-year deal when he joined Chelsea and the London club could face a hefty compensation pay-out to their former manager. Scolari's spokesman Acaz Felleger said it was Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich who had run out of patience with the Brazilian coach. it is further said that "Scolari was not in a comfortable situation despite having the support of the squad and Peter Kenyon."

Torres sends Liverpool top

Fernando Torres scored the winner after Fabio Aurelio and Dirk Kuyt had cancelled out goals from David Nugent and Hermann Hreidarsson. it puts the Anfield side one point above Manchester United.

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez picked a starting line-up that included full-backs Alvaro Arbeloa and Aurelio deployed in midfield roles and 19-year-old striker David N'Gog starting in place of Torres.

Benitez bemoaned the fact that he is powerless to stop Torres - struggling with a hamstring - being picked for Spain in Wednesday's friendly against England.

Ferguson and Ronaldo have not seen each other since a celebratory party at Old Trafford on May 22, the night after their Champions League triumph over Chelsea in Moscow, and it is understood that there has been little, if any, telephone contact between the men, with their relationship strained by the player’s repeated statement that he wishes to move to Real Madrid.

Cristiano Ronaldo to submit transfer request, He is so far the best in Euro 2008

Cristiano ronaldo has significantly contributed to the success of Portugal in Euro 2008.

Cristiano Ronaldo has confided to friends that he is prepared to do “whatever it takes” to engineer a transfer to Real Madrid this summer. Manchester United maintain that they will not sell their most prized asset under any circumstances, but Ronaldo is dismissive of his club's views and regards his planned world-record transfer to Real as an inevitability.

Ronaldo appeared almost ambivalent about his future when, in a statement on June 4, he suggested that he would be happy to stay at United if no fee was agreed with Real, but the depth of his determination to leave Old Trafford is now becoming clear.

A source close to the player said last night that he had made clear he would do everything in his power to persuade United to sell. That could mean anything from submitting a formal transfer request to refusing to report for pre-season training, but his next step will be to issue a further statement, outlining his intentions, as soon as Portugal's participation in the European Championship finals is over.

The end of the tournament a week on Sunday - or Portugal's elimination, if that happens first - will trigger an escalation in the battle for Ronaldo, with Real planning to make a formal offer of about £60million.

That's a big amount of money, but it's worth it.

Wayne Rooney and Christiano Ronaldo - who is better?

Pic 1..... Wayne Rooney and Christiano Ronaldo - who is better? leave a comment.

Personally I can't decide who is better. Christiano is on fire at the minute, scoring with every kind of goal from every angle and tricks to bamboozle the finest of defenders. Wayne has always been brilliant, right from the very start everyone could see he was special. If you had to rely on one player and only 1 player I think you'd want Wazzer there as he has Man Utd red running through his once blue veins.
